DRAFT CLINIC AND MATCH
This year's Draft Clinic and Draft Match which will be held at Clackamette Park in Oregon City on date TBD. The Clinic will begin at 9:00 am and will be limited to 10 teams on a first come first served basis. The clinic is ideal for those wanting to learn about drafting and for getting dogs started in harness and cart. All equipment will be provided by the BMDCO at the clinic, but if you have your own harness and/or cart, be sure to bring them. Note: Each dog entered in the clinic must be accompanied by two handlers for the safety of the dog, the entrants and the equipment.
The Draft Match will begin at 12:00 pm for those wanting to sharpen their carting teamwork and/or practice for an upcoming draft test. Please bring your own cart and harness. It will be set up with a course similar to a real test. You'll have lots of friendly helpers to cheer you on! This is a great way to cure the jitters and find out where you and your dog need more practice.

The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America Draft Test is a series of exercises designed to develop and demonstrate the natural abilities of purebred Bernese Mountain Dogs in a working capacity involving hauling.
The Bernese Mountain Dog has historically functioned as a draft dog in various capacities, and performance of these exercises is intended to demonstrate skills resulting from both inherent ability and training which are applicable to realistic work situations.
Efficiency in accomplishment of tasks is essential. It is also desirable that the dog evidence willingness and enjoyment of his work in a combination of controlled teamwork with his handler and natural independence.
